The best training I ever had

Y’Mocracy in Mersin, Turkey

This year I had a great opportunity to participate in the training Y’Mocracy in Mersin, Turkey, between 14-20 February 2016. We were 27 participants from Poland, Italy, Romania, Spain, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Greece, Estonia and we learned about the democratic process, how it’s working in our countries and how we can take part in it.

RAY_8574 (2)

The training was organized by Genç Demokratlar an organization from Turkey and it was funded by European Union through Erasmus+ Programme. My sending organization was YMCA Baia Mare, Romania.

_MG_2426Before telling you about our activities you should  know that we had a very nice accommodation next to the beach. SoRAY_8474 (2) few of us we tried to wake up earlier in every morning to catch the incredible sunrise. And about our meals I have to mention that the Turkish food is very, very good. Everyone complained that “the food here is too good and to much”.

The daily schedule was very good divided and we decided that one of the most important role is “if somebody it’s not on the time we will start the activity without that person”. In this case we had enough time for each activity and also enough free time.

20160216_122307I will need one day to tell you about activities so I choose to talk about my favorite one. So in one day they took us to visit the municipality of Mersin, where we had the opportunity to talk about democracy with the local authorities from Mersin. The meeting was very good organized and the press was taking part too. The local authorities were opened to talk to us and to give an answer for each question we had. In the end I have to mention that they offered us tea and presents._MG_3410

About our free time we definitely enjoyed it a lot. The water was  perfect for swimming so we spent a lot of time on the beach. In the evenings I have to admit that we were addicted to the game “Mafia” and we chose to skip few hours of sleep just to play it one more time.

_MG_3026In the last evening we made a big camp fire on the beach and we spent the whole night there chatting. This was one of my best nights ever and I really miss that. I made a lot of friends and I’m planning to visit some of them one day. One participant from Greece decided to go to Macedonia after the training and this means that you can make strong connections with people also in a very short time if you meet the right persons.
